Blind Tom Wiggins (May 25, 1849 – June 14, 1908) was an African-American musical prodigy. He was both an exceptional pianist and composer and one of the best known musicians of his time (in spite of being blind). In 1860 he also performed at the White House. He is now considered an autistic savant (he was not diagnosed during his lifetime because autism was not a diagnosis yet). In 1976 a commemorative headstone was raised in his honor by the people of Columbus (Georgia, USA). Tom is featured in Islands of Genius by Darold Treffert.
